Dakota Lane Johnston 1999 - 2008
Story
Dakota Lane Johnston was born October 20, 1999 in Grapevine, TX to Steve
and Kelly Johnston. His first home was 5740 Marlene Dr. in Haltom City,
TX. He attended Watauga Elementary.
Dakota was an outside kid. He loved to hunt, fish, swim at MiMi and
Joe Joe's and enjoyed other outside activities. He played soccer and was
signed up to play football. His T.T. nicknamed him Tony.
At age two Dakota broke his leg. He said that his Daddy was the one
who broke it. They were working together making his crib into a big boy
bed. When he was four he broke his arm and about five he broke his
finger. He was one tough kid.
Steve, Kelly and Dakota all worked together to build their new house in
Haslet, Tx in 2007. He helped his Uncle Boone with the electrical
work. Dakota never received the amount he charged but told Uncle
Boone he would settle for $5.
Dakota had a few pets - He had a dachshund named Sadie, fish, and his yellow lab named Asa Buchanan. Asa was named after Asa Buchanan on the soap opera One Life to Live.

Dakota was "The Man" He was surrounded by girls. His cousins,
Haley, Chandler, Sierra and Shelby and his friend Aubrey. Dakota was the
one to help Aubrey learn to talk and walk. He had plans to teach Aubrey's
new brother Brady to talk and walk.
When Dakota was five he had his first plane ride. He went to Disney
World. He also has been to Sea World, Galveston (2006) Port Aransas
(2000) and many times to Albuquerque to visit family. In Port Aransas
he had his first corn on the cobb. In the summer of 2005 he went to Lake
Whitney for the first FIG BASH. He loved S'mores night.
Dakota loved to ride on his scooter and four wheeler. One time he
even flew off of the side of a very large hill on his four wheeler.
He also got to take his Grandma Cathy for a ride on the four
wheeler. She had to hold on for dear life.
Dakota was a fan of Mr. Heath and Pat Greene. When he was little he loved to go shopping with his Mommy and T.T. but as
he got older he hated them even saying the word "shopping".
Dakota was a student at Nance Elementary School where he had many
friends. He loved it. He made friends very quickly there.
Dakota also had many friends in his neighborhood.
In November 2007 Dakota was baptized. He was so excited that he cut
in front of some of the kids and they did not get his name announced.
Dakota was a very smart boy. He new that all he needed in life was Jesus
in his heart. Now, he is walking with Jesus.
The gift God gave to us was taken way too soon and in my heart I want him
here with me and you but then I close my eyes and I can clearly see he's there
with Jesus and he's smiling down at me.
